It has been a long while since I have posted any updates. In the past six weeks, Jonah has had a virus, allergic reaction, and ear infection. After getting through those, he got used to being held at night and we had to work to break that pattern which was only then compounded by the five teeth he has coming in right now. Life around here has been challenging as we have been functioning on very little sleep for the past five weeks. Just yesterday I took him to the doctor for pinkeye, but the medication seems to be helping him. In the past five weeks he has been to the pediatrician six times. Hopefully we are on the upswing!
Over the past six weeks we have had a visit from Uncle Rich, spent time with Nana and Papaw, visited the Perrins in Chicago, and had a visit from Grammy and Poppa. I did not take pictures or record anything from those times, but they were wonderful times with family.
At eight months, Jonah is 19 pounds. He is still a happy little guy. Every time we are at the doctor's, they comment on how happy he is despite his condition. He just claps his hands and squeals and kicks his feet all day long. He is eating at 7, 11:30, 4:30, and 7. He eats any food you give him. Jonah is napping at 9 and 1 and his naps last anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours (on rare occasion). Here are some updates from this month:Finger foods - he has mastered the pincher grasp and eats bananas, broccoli, and puffs. We have also been giving him tastes of lots of different foods from our plates.
- Almost crawling - he is up on all fours and rocking back and forth. He is able to move his feet but just needs to figure out the coordination with his hands. We are at an any minute place with crawling.
- Standing - Jonah just doesn't have much interest in standing and holding on to things. He doesn't really have the strength and is much happier rolling around
- Rolling - He has figured out how to string together his rolls and rolls around the house all day long.
- Toys - Jonah is still enjoying his speedway and playing with Emma. His favorite toys right now are his toy basket and Emma's musical instruments.
- Peek a Boo - Jonah now plays peek-a-boo with us if we cover his head with something.
- Jonah says Mama and Dada with meaning. He is a Mama's boy and prefers Mommy over anyone. Daddy is still trying to get used to the rejection of that but he had, and still does, Emma's preference.
- Jonah loves to go on walks and be outside. Thankfully the weather is warming up so we can take more advantage of that.
- Books - Jonah now loves to read books and will sit for a much longer time as long as the books have something to touch. He enjoys peek-a-boo books, texture books, and 5 Little Ladybugs.
- Signing - along with saying Mama and Dada, Jonah can sign all done and more. He uses these daily.
- Swinging - Jonah's absolute favorite activity is swinging. He just kicks his legs and squeals while swinging.
- Waving - Jonah waves hello and goodbye and says something that sounds like hi.
Hi Jonah - WOW! You are getting so big and learning so many new things! We miss you so very much and love you tons! Tante Janet
