The First Two Weeks

What a precious boy! We have had a great first two weeks. Everyone has adjusted well and the transition to a family of four has been as smooth as could be expected. Mike went back to work last week and I was alone with the kids all week. We ventured out of the house each day, even if it was just to go for a ride in the car. We were all glad to return to some sense of normalcy.

Jonah is growing quickly and is a happy and laid back baby. In the past week we have had some concerns about his spitting up large quantities at every feeding and have been talking with the pediatrician but just think he is getting to much to drink. That is a good problem to have although it creates quite the laundry between his clothes and mine. He is eating every three hours and wakes up ever 4-5 at night. Jonah cries only when he is hungry and loves to look around and be held. The biggest challenge with Jonah is he does not like to wake up to eat and therefore it takes upwards of an hour to feed him most times. With Emma running around that can be frustrating, but Emma just plays with her babies and talks to me. I am getting accustomed to nursing and reading books or playing little people at the same time.

Jonah has been such a different baby than Emma and we have been able to enjoy him so much already. We are so thankful for him and Emma. Here are some pictures from the past two weeks.

Jonah likes to be held when he is sleeping...what newborn doesn't?! When I pick him up to hold him, he squirms his way down to my chest then looks up at me and falls asleep that way. I love it! He is precious and such a cuddler!

Uncle Andrew came to visit last week and meet Jonah. What fun to have that time with Uncle Andrew!

Jonah plays with his mouth all day making an o shape. It is very sweet. This reminds me of a picture we have of Sam when he was a newborn.

Tummy time with Mommy. This outfit has dinosaurs on it and when Emma saw it she pointed to one and said "Giraffe". Wow - she really is a girl. She now is familiar with dinosaurs.

Sweet ducky outfit.

Jonah smiles quite a bit for a two week old. He smiles after every feeding for a few minutes and is just such a happy baby. He received a package in the mail from Sam sharing some of his favorite outfits from when he was a newborn. What a blessing and a fun package to get. Thanks for sharing Sam (and Aunt Abby)!

Happy little boy!

Alone time with Mommy and another sweet outfit from Sam. The baby acne is starting to surface on his face. Hopefully it will not be as bad as Emma's was.

Jonah hijacked Daddy's chair. It will be fun to watch him grow into the chair over the next year.

Practicing the thumb sucking...I know many people think we are crazy, but we would love for him to figure this out soon rather than later and toss the pacifier (our experience with the pacifier and Emma was not good).
